Birmingham City University is a modern university. Its predecessor was Birmingham College of Art, which was established in 1843, and was upgraded to an accredited university in 1992. Birmingham City has 24,000 students from 80 different countries. The university's courses are highly practical and innovative, and are committed to providing work-related training for students during their studies. The courses have also been awarded by different international organizations, such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), (SAP) Systems Applications and Products, (CCNA) CISCO Certified Network Associate and other professional certifications, according to the Destination of Leavers from THE survey 2016/17, successfully completed six months after graduation More than 97% of students are employed or continue their studies, and the employment rate of graduates ranks seventh in the UK. Birmingham City's Architecture ranks 32nd in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 subject rankings; while the University's School of Jewelery is one of the largest in Europe, its first-class facilities and excellent teachers make this college in the Goldsmith Awards 16 awards in 2019.
