Founded in 1832, Durham University is the third oldest university in the UK and a member of the Russell Group. History is second only to University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. The cathedral and castle on campus are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The university retains the traditional college system, and the college adopts a tutor system that allows tutors to tutor students in small groups. The school's achievements in education and research are very outstanding, and it ranks among the best in many international and British rankings. The school ranks 82nd in the QS World University Rankings 2022, and is the top 100 university in the world.
