School Profile:
The history of Newcastle University can be traced back to the School of Medicine and Surgery established in 1834 and the Armstrong College established in 1871, respectively teaching medicine and surgery and physical sciences. The school merged in 1937 into another British traditional famous university, Durham University's branch (King's College), in 1963 became the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and then changed its name to Newcastle University. There are more than 28,000 students in the school, and 17% are international students. The school is one of the founding universities of the Russell Group research universities, dedicated to research to address society's most pressing needs. Among them, medical research ability, scientific and engineering research ability are the most famous, and have been recognized by the academic circles. The school continues to invest a lot of money to ensure that students have access to the best learning resources. In The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, the school ranks 31st among more than 130 universities in the UK; in the 2022 QS World University Rankings, it ranks 134th in the world, the top 1% of the world's universities. Comedy star Rowan Atkinson, known as "Mr. Bean", is also a graduate of the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Newcastle University.

The school is mainly divided into three core colleges, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. Each college consists of schools, research institutes and research centers, offering students basic courses, bachelor's and postgraduate courses. The school also provides English courses, university foundation courses and diploma courses for international students through INTO, and provides university bridging courses for international students. Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Dentistry, Economics, Medicine, and Psychology are all popular subjects, all ranked in the top 30 in the UK in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.
Geographical location:
The University is located in the North East of England, in the heart of Newcastle. From Newcastle International Airport, it takes only about fifteen minutes by car to reach the school. It only takes about 25 minutes to take the subway to Haymarket subway station near the university.
